The Borghese gallery is situated in Rome’s central parklands and is today recognised as one of the world’s most important art collections. What initially began as an impressive private collection in the 1600s continues to create wonder amongst spectators due to the collection’s astounding number of masterpieces. The collection boasts famed artists including Botticelli, Raphael, Titian, Bernini and boasts the greatest number of Caravaggio paintings. Landing in Rome this gallery is a “Must See” world of fantasy awaiting visitors as the secrets of the artists are revealed through hidden crafted symbols. The Gallery allows a timed two hour visit and the focus of the tour is on the master artworks in the Borghese collection. Strength, speed, prowess and athleticism are all words associated to sport, however, 2000 years ago in Ancient Rome, we would also commonly associate death to the world of sport. Imagine nearing the largest solid construction of the ancient roman world that was intimidating, immense, powerful that its very name derived from being colossal. Upon nearing the colossal building the stench of blood loomed as would have the deafening sounds of the: crowds cheering in the stands, animals wailing as they ready to attack and sword against steel as men known as gladiators fight in epic combat. This was all but a common day down by the Colosseum.
Guests will come to understand the architecture, organisation and games of the Colosseum, facilitated with a narrative to recreate Rome's ancient daily life. Furthermore guests on this Colosseum experience will uncover the cunning prowess of the city who dominated the entire Mediterranean.
